7.62x39 ammo: It's what your AK-47 is eating for dinner!

You won’t find many better defensive rounds than these hollow point 7.62x39mm rounds by Tula Arms, and you certainly won’t find any better defensive rounds for the price.  If you’re looking for decent defense rounds in your AK or other 7.62x39 rifle, then these rounds should be near, if not at, the top of your list.

You will receive one box of 20 rounds of 7.62x39mm rounds are hollow pointed (JHP), steel cased, berdan primed, and weigh 124 grain.  What make these rounds so effective, however, as a defense round are the hollow points.  Hollow point rounds are an expanding bullet with a hollowed out shape at its tip that causes greater expansion and stopping power when it hits the target. These rounds have a muzzle energy of 1,508 feet per pound and a muzzle velocity of 2,396 feet per second.

These rounds are also steel cased, which is a major explanation for why these rounds are so cheap.  Steel cased rounds tend to be nearly as reliable as the more popular brass cased rounds. In fact, in many Russian rifles and firearms, steel is the preferred casing as it's more native to the platform.  Berdan primers are also the standard for primers in Europe, and are also more reliable and non-corrosive in comparison to Boxer primers.
