- Q & A
The .38 Special has been around since 1898. It was first designed to provide greater firepower to the military after they discovered their .38 Long Colt rounds weren’t capable of halting the Moro Warriors during the Philippine-American War, and it quickly gained popularity elsewhere. From 1920 into the 1990s it was the standard issue for law enforcement agencies across the country; with 70+ years as a law enforcement favorite, the .38 Special can easily claim a far greater degree of favoritism than any other round used before or after it. Today it remains the most popular revolver round on the market and is often used for concealed carry, whether as a main carry weapon or a backup gun (BUG).
If you carry your .38 Special for protection, you need to be sure you have it loaded with the right ammunition. These particular rounds are made for your .38 Special by BVAC. At 125 grain they’re considered fairly lightweight for the cartridge size, so they’re able to fly down-range at higher speeds than their heavier counterparts and also help reduce felt recoil. These are Jacketed Hollow Point, JHP, rounds and deliver rapid energy transfer, beginning to mushroom on impact. As they expand they also slow down, penetrating deeply to create a catastrophic wound track. This ammunition is made by BVAC for self-defense use.
When you order this case of ammunition from BVAC you get 20 boxes of 50 rounds apiece for a total of 1000 rounds. If 1000 defense rounds seems like quite a bit, you might be surprised just how quickly you burn through them. Defense rounds produce more felt recoil and muzzle rise than target rounds, and the only way to be sure of accuracy and placement is by practicing with your defense rounds of choice. Someday your life or the lives of people you love could depend on whether or not you trained properly, so why take the chance? Use some of this ammunition to keep your gun and spare magazines or speedloaders loaded and ready, but use the rest for realistic training. BVAC manufactures ammunition at their company in Montana. Order now and get ready to train like you may one day fight for your life.
