- Q & A
The .380 ACP was designed in 1908 by John Browning. It was specifically designed for the blowback pistols of the era that didn’t have barrel locking mechanisms; the .380 ACP has a low bolt thrust, so it doesn’t need the locking mechanism other pistols require. In the .380 ACP the combination of the recoil spring and the weight of the slide are sufficient to buffer the recoil. Because of that, the barrel is usually permanently fixed to the frame in these handguns, which is one reason they’re so well-known for accuracy. Of course, the .380 ACP isn’t as limited as some think: there are some locked-breech pistols chambered in the round as well as a few submachine guns, like the Ingram MAC-11. If you own a .380 ACP odds are you’re a high-volume shooter in need of some quality target rounds, in which case you’ve come to the right place.
This ammunition is manufactured by Remington at their Lonoke, Arkansas, plant. Remington has been in business for 200 years and in those centuries their dedication to quality has been proven time and again. They were founded in 1816 by young Eliphalet Remington, whose vision of an innovative company with a dedication to quality and loyalty not only came to fruition but has grown far beyond anything he could have imagined. Today Remington is a subsidiary of the Freedom Group, a company owned by Cerebrus, and they continue to produce high-quality firearms and ammunition. All their ammunition must meet stringent requirements and undergoes rigorous testing and strict quality control.
There are a fantastic 500 rounds in this box of ammunition. At 95 grain it’s both lightweight and within the standard range for the caliber. These are MC, or Metal Case, rounds, which are Remington’s FMJ rounds. They don’t expand on impact and are prone to over-penetrating, just as all target rounds are; just as with all target time, you need to be sure of your target and what is beyond it. Each round leaves the barrel of your gun with a muzzle velocity of 955 feet per second and impacts your target with a muzzle energy of 190 foot-pounds. And to make this an even better deal Remington produces this ammunition in fresh brass cases with boxer primer, so you can burn through the entire box, reload, and get back to the range. Hone your marksmanship skills with this 500-round box of target rounds from Remington.
