Vernon Speer was an innovator from the beginning. He served in the Navy during World War I, which broadened his interest in airplanes, and at 21 years of age he decided to invent his own airplane engine. To prove it worked he put it in a biplane and simply took it up; fortunately it was, indeed, a success, and that was just one of his many forays into creativity and hands-on design. His interest in ammo began during World War II, when he was working as a chief ground instructor at a flying school in Nebraska. In 1944 he rented space in the corner of a grocery store and began manufacturing components, and such was his success that he moved into a much bigger building in Lewiston, Idaho, near the Snake River. Today Speer Bullets remains in that building, and the innovation they began with remains.
These are heavy 230 grain rounds. They’re FMJ, meaning they’re great for target practice, shooting drills, and plinking; there are practically endless drills you can run through with this ammo. Each round leaves the barrel of your gun with a muzzle velocity of 830 feet per second and makes a solid impression with a muzzle energy of 352 foot-pounds. Speer produces these rounds in virgin brass cases with boxer primer; you can burn through the entire case, collect your spent brass, reload it, and get back to business. Don’t load your .45 ACP with inferior target rounds; poorly made ammo can ruin your gun’s barrel, not to mention its poor performance. You want high-quality rounds like these, then you’ll be happy, and so will your gun.
There are 1000 rounds in this case, so your .45 ACP will be eating like a king for awhile. It’s made by Speer at their longtime Lewiston, Idaho, plant and goes through rigorous testing. Just think of all the things you can do with 1000 rounds: annihilate pumpkins, watermelons, and water jugs, practice prone shooting, work on speeding up your draw time, master firing from cover – the list really does go on and on. Whatever you’re going to do, do it with this reliable, American-made ammunition from a company with a long reputation of attention to detail and dedication to quality. Order now and warm up your gun.
