- Hi Gaylene. The shelf-life of any ammo is directly dependent on the conditions of storage, if the ammo is kept dry, and in a place that doesn't have a extreme temperature, ammo will keep almost indefinitely. For instance if you keep ammo in your home, provided that it doesn't somehow get wet, the ammo will be good for 30 years +. There is not truth to the 6 month shelf life of ammo for any modern propellant provided there are not other issues such as excessive moisture etc.
