More Details About This Federal 2-3/4" Rifled Slug 12ga Ammunition
Stocks? Bonds? Gold? All trash. Why? Can’t use them to win the shotgun portion of a 3-Gun competition. Federal Premium Action Shotgun ammunition? It’d be worth its weight in gold if gold weren’t actually trash!
This is a competition load, but don’t let that stop you from choosing it for training and dandy-fun-happy-time plinking. Its 1 ounce slug is lead, rifled (for smoothbore compatibility), and not terribly hard-recoiling owing to its 1,300 fps muzzle velocity and cushioned wad.
The slug would be otherwise unremarkable were it not for its TruBall. The plastic, spherical component forms a sort of joint between the slug and its plastic wad. It enables the slug to lean in any direction, which it will throughout ignition in order to attain the best possible alignment with the bore.
And what does a slug do when it aligns with the bore so correctly? It initiates and completes a laser-accurate trajectory – exactly what you want when the goal is TIGHT groups.
