This 12 Gauge shell’s single ounce of #7 shot pellets are made of nontoxic steel. They’re a touch larger in diameter than the #7.5 shot pellets typically favored for small game, because that helps to compensate for steel’s lesser density than lead’s. Fiocchi enhances their steel shot pellets’ effectiveness by plating them with zinc – a feature which preserves the shot against corrosion that could have made it too coarse to pattern efficiently.

This is a lower-recoil shotgun shell. Its muzzle velocity and shot column weight are both on the lighter end of the spectrum for a hunting load, and Fiocchi’s wad is designed to collapse during ignition to diminish felt recoil. The old Italian manufacturer loads their shotgun ammo with clean-burning powder and reusable hulls, and they produce it in their own factory in Missouri.
