- Q & A
This cartridge sports a 38 grain projectile. 22 LR bullets are typically 40 grains, and while two grains isn’t much it still conveys a slightly peppier muzzle velocity for an accordingly flatter trajectory. The bullet’s copper plating serves to reduce lead fouling. The longer a barrel stays clean, the longer it can stay accurate – that’s why we prefer CPRNs for semi-automatics, which tend to work through quite a lot of ammo in a single day.
This round’s bullet also has the hollow point you want for hunting. It expands following impact, so it tears a much wider hole through its target than its original 0.223” diameter could account for. The bullet is seated in Aguila’s straight-walled brass case, with their own noncorrosive and very sensitive rimfire primer to get the show started.
