- Q & A
.22LR is a more versatile round than many people believe. It’s obviously a great deal of fun, but there’s more to it than just a potato chip can’t-stop-with-just-one mentality. Many survivalists believe it’s the ultimate survival round, and here’s why. First, it’s far easier to store large quantities in a small space. Between 130 and 145 rounds typically weigh 1 pound and take up a surprisingly small area; it’s practically a good handful’s worth. It’s great for hunting small game such as rabbits; it’s all about shot placement. And, similarly, it’s more damaging in self-defense scenarios than some realize. In fact, it’s proven in several widely publicized cases that it can cause severe injury and even, in some cases, be lethal.
Of course, one of the best ways to maximize the .22LR’s versatility is to use hollow points. Although expansion is slight, it’s still there, and it also decelerates more upon impact. That’s good regardless of its use and these HP rounds perform admirably. There are 500 rounds in the box, and that’s a great number either for increasing your stockpile or spending some time plinking or handling varmint control. And don’t forget, .22LR is also ideal for teaching new shooters gun safety and basic marksmanship.
Armscor is owned by the Squire Bingham Company, a firearms company that’s been around since 1911. For decades they’ve been manufacturing ammunition in the Philippines for shooters worldwide; they understand the importance of competitively priced ammunition, and these rounds are a fine example of their products. They’re brass-cased HP rounds, and at 36 grain they’re moderately heavy for the caliber. They have a muzzle velocity of 1,260 feet per second and a muzzle energy of 127 foot-pounds. Don’t wait to add to your stockpile of .22LR, order now.
