- Q & A
Richard Speer got his start as a Boeing machinist, learning many valuable skills that translated well when he decided to switch to manufacturing ammunition. He founded CCI in 1951 with the initial goal of making his mark in the area of reloading. The first component he focused on was brass cases, and although he came up with a superior process, there just weren’t any raw materials available immediately following World War II, so he was forced to choose something else. He shifted his focus to primers and ended up creating an excellent non-mercuric, non-corrosive primer, and even now, more than 60 years later, CCI is known for their superior primers.
Something else CCI is renowned for is their .22LR, specifically their Mini-Mag, and that’s just what these rounds are. At 40 grain they’re lightweight but within the standard weight range for the cartridge size; being lighter enables them to fly towards target at higher speeds. These are Copper Plated Round Nose (CPRN) rounds and do not expand on impact. The copper plating helps them cycle consistently and also keeps your gun cleaner. Each round has an impressive muzzle velocity of 1235 feet per second. This ammunition is great for target practice, shooting drills, and plinking.
This is an absolutely fantastic opportunity, because there are 1600 rounds in this case of ammunition. It’s made even better by the simple fact that these are good quality, reliable .22LR rounds from an established, respected American company. Basically, if you want great .22LR, you want CCI Mini-Mags. It’ll take you awhile to find your way to the bottom of this case – oh, you’ll get there, but you’ll have an awful lot of fun along the way. CCI manufactures ammunition at their factory in Lewiston, Idaho, along the banks of the Snake River. Get your order in before someone else beats you to it, and feed your gun.
