- Q & A
Squirrels can do more damage to gardens and crops than some people realize, digging up bulbs from flower beds, eating seeds and young plantings and generally wreaking havoc. Then there’s the way they steal bird seed from feeders and kill flowers digging around their roots. Some people find squirrels charming, but others, well, they’ve seen too much to ever find another squirrel anything but somewhat evil and threatening. One way to thin the population is with your .22LR. Just be sure they’re in season, then get to it.
These .22LR rounds weigh in at a lightweight 40 grain, which is within the standard weight range. At this weight these rounds are able to fly down-range at amazing speeds. Recoil is kept to a bare minimum, which makes follow-up shots and target acquisition faster, and accuracy is easier to attain. These are Lead Round Nose, or LRN, rounds, and don’t expand on impact. They are prone to over-penetration, though, so have a good backstop in place. These rounds have a muzzle velocity of 1085 feet per second and muzzle energy of 105 foot-pounds. This ammunition is meant for target practice and plinking but many shooters also use it for squirrels.
There are 500 target rounds in this box of ammunition. So long as you’ve honed your marksmanship skills sufficiently that’s 500 squirrels you could eradicate, or, if you’re plinking, 500 pop cans you can wipe out. This ammunition is made by Eley, a company that was founded in 1820 and only recent purchased by Nobel Sports, which is another respected company. Eley’s headquarters are in Edmonton, London and all ammunition is manufactured according to SAAMI or CIP specifications. Order now, and feed your .22LR.
