Federal Premium promises that their Tactical series ammunition will “transform the most basic police shotgun into a precision shooting tool.” And it does precisely that – without the need for barrel alterations, or aftermarket chokes, or magic. It’s the power of FliteControl!
This law enforcement ammunition (which is also available for sale to non-LE customers) features the most highly acclaimed wad in the shooting world: the FliteControl, which uses the pressure of ignition to unfold six flat petals around the rim of its base. These fins make the FliteControl resemble a shuttlecock, and promote a tighter, more efficient seal against the bore until emergence. At that point, the FliteControl actually continues on with the shot column a short distance, until finally separating to produce one outstandingly efficient pattern.
Heavy recoil is the antithesis of rapid, precise shot placement. You don’t want violent muzzle rise to yank your aim off the threat, which is why you’ll appreciate the kick-diminishing effect of this round’s eight-piece 00 buck payload and tepid (yet still potent) 1,125 fps muzzle velocity. Weaker though it may be relative to many hunting shells, this defense ammo packs more than enough punch to end the skirmish in one blast.
