Federal’s history is a storied one. Charles Horn visited what turned out to be a failing factory in 1922. It had been operating for six years, and in that time had been unable to succeed. Horn felt he could make a company a success, so he re-founded the factory as the Federal Cartridge Company and launched a marketing campaign. Federal’s ammunition was soon being sold in gas stations, barber shops, and grocery stores, and it worked; before long, Federal’s name was becoming known for quality, reliable ammunition. The government soon offered them a contract to build and operate the Twin City Ordnance Plant, and Federal’s dedication to producing ammo for service members was so impressive they were awarded an Army-Navy “E” for excellence. Today Federal continues on in their dedication to manufacturing high quality ammunition, and generations of shooters have turned to them to keep their guns loaded.
