5 Rounds of 00 Buck 12ga Ammo by Winchester Double-X 2 3/4"

Winchester does offer their Double X 12 Gauge deer hunting ammo in gargantuan 3-1/2” size. This is the smaller 2-3/4” version. It’s only about 60% as powerful, but its nine-pellet column of 00 buckshot’s combined muzzle energy of approximately 2,260 ft lbs means that it is hardly limp-wristed!

This shotshell’s high muzzle velocity of 1,450 feet per second really pushes its payload out of the barrel hard. Such fast acceleration could have smashed the shot pellets flat had Winchester not specifically designed the shell to avoid that problem. The shot is packed with granulated buffering, which compresses under pressure to soak up recoil energy. The pellets themselves are made substantially harder by their copper plating, which also serves to promote deeper penetration through tough hide and dense muscle tissue. The copper-plated shot pellets are likely to pass through a human-size threat, which alongside its still powerful recoil makes this ammo a less than perfect selection for home defense.

These American-made shells have clean-igniting explosive components, as well as durable reloadable high-brass hulls. This ammo certainly does a solid number on boar as well!
