This is no general purpose 12 Gauge 00 buckshot ammo. Winchester Double X ammunition is engineered for hunting deer, and it’s much more powerful than what most folks would consider suitable for home defense. This is a big shell: 3-1/2” long, and packed with 15 individual pieces of 00 buck (approximately 1-7/8 ounces). Its muzzle velocity of 1,450 feet per second doesn’t just give it a dram equivalent of 5 – it also produces massive recoil, not to mention massive stopping power. The shell only makes matters worse for its target thanks to its copper-plated shot pellets, which resist deformation to promote tighter pattern density and deeper penetration, as well as its granulated buffering which softens the force of acceleration to further protect those already hard pellets from flattening down in the barrel.

This behemoth is armed with a traditional fiber wad, sensitive primer and clean-burning powder. Its high-brass hulls have normal star crimps, so they’re easy to close back up again if you decide to reload them. You get 50 boxes when you spring for the whole case!
