- Q & A
The 40 grain copper-plated round nose is a clean-shooting and accurate bullet, especially when its muzzle velocity is just a little bit higher than usual at 1,300 feet per second. Its nose profile facilitates smooth feeding in a semi-automatic, and its thin plating of copper helps to slow the rate of lead fouling inside the barrel.
Although the CPRN cannot provide terminal expansion, it is still quite deadly to small game. A red squirrel weighs about as much as 130 of these bullets. Shooting such a creature with this cartridge is roughly equivalent to shooting a 200 pound animal with a 2/3 pound supersonic projectile.
Winchester’s consistent rimfire primers, clean-burning powder and straight-walled concentric brass cases promise great performance whether you’re shooting targets or pests. You get five 100-round plastic boxes when you order the brick!
