More Details About Our 100 Rounds of 55gr FMJBT .223 Ammo by Federal
An AR-15 has many parts. You can buy and assemble the best receivers, barrel, trigger, gas tube and charging handle the market has to offer – but at the end of the day, all those bits and bobs will be nothing more than an arts and crafts project without ammo!
Here’s 100 rounds of the 223 Rem you need to master the range, not to mention defend your home if the situation ever demands it. Federal’s American Eagle cartridge has a standard 55 grain full metal jacket projectile. Its 3,240 fps muzzle velocity gives the bullet an extremely flat trajectory at close-to-medium range, and its boat tail base ensures that bullet will retain enough momentum to travel faster than 1,650 fps at 500 yards.
This bullet cannot expand after it hits a target, which is why it’s not marketed for self-defense but many consider it a decent self defense option anyway given the high energy transfer with its high velocities.
The bullet’s cannelure preserves its seating depth inside of its newly manufactured brass case. This particular ammo’s cases are unpolished, so you will be able to see the discoloration resulting from the annealing process that made it stronger. Non-corrosive Boxer primers make this ammo clean-shooting and easy to reload.
