This 7.62x39mm cartridge by Red Army Standard features a 124 grain projectile. The bullet’s boat tail design gives it an admirably high ballistic coefficient, and as the result great accuracy, a flat trajectory, improved resistance to wind drift, and higher downrange velocity. As a hollow point this bullet will expand dramatically as it burrows through a soft target, making it as appropriate for personal protection as it is for cost-effective training and target practice.

This round is made in Russia, and appropriately sports a steel casing. It’s significantly less expensive than a comparable brass cased cartridge, but the trade-off is that it’s not suitable for handloading. Its Berdan primer is non-corrosive, so your bore and action will be in better shape for having fired it, and the purple sealant around its neck and primer will protect it from whatever harsh elements you might carry an AK into.
