We’ve always loved loose-packed ammunition. We prefer to open a case of ammo once and then be done opening things for the rest of the day, not tear apart three boxes of ammo for every two magazines we load. That’s why we’re especially fond of this case of 5.56x45 ammo by Federal!

Federal didn’t actually load this ammo. The Lake City Army Ammunition plant did, which is why its Boxer primers, propellant and brass cases are all military-grade. In true military-grade fashion these rounds’ cases are discolored, because LAACP doesn’t waste time polishing brass after they’ve annealed it to make it stronger. They’d rather spend their time making over a billion rounds of ammo a year!

The M193 is the vanilla AR-15 cartridge: 55 grain bullet, full metal jacket, ballistically efficient boat tail, muzzle velocity of 3,240 fps. You’ll find this ammo immensely practical for range training and plinking, but if you ever find yourself in the type of emergency that calls for 1,000 rounds of ammo you’ll be relieved to have this case of ammo hidden somewhere in your home.
