- Q & A
This is Red Army Standard ammunition, which is made in Russia and imported to the U.S. by Century International Arms of Florida. This ammo doesn’t actually have anything to do with the Red Army. It was manufactured very recently, as a matter of fact, so it has the non-corrosive Berdan primers you need to prevent rusting in your valuable rifle.
This ammo has bimetal jacketed 60 grain FMJ projectiles. They’re going to deliver smooth feeding, prevent excessive fouling without damaging the barrel, and avoid any kind of deformation while penetrating soft tissue. They’re also going to draw a magnet, because the bimetal jacket is mostly made out of steel with a thin copper outer layer.
You avoid paying for brass with this ammo thanks to its steel cases. Steel cases feed and extract more reliably when they’re coated with polymer – but they’ll do you no favors at your reloading bench!
