This is M855 5.56 ammo. On the outside its 62 grain bullet is functionally identical to any other FMJ, so you can count on smooth feeding and decreased barrel fouling per usual. But inside the bullet’s tip lies a steel “penetrator” core.

The bullet this ammo is loaded with is affectionately known by many shooters as "the penetrator". A nickname given due to the bullet's ability to pierce thru metal in many circumstances. The terminal ballistics of this type of round make it a candidate in a search for self-defense ammunition. But it can also work nicely in a plinking or target shooting application...so long as you aren't at a range that has a ban on magnetic projectiles.
