More Details About Our 20 Rounds of 230gr JHP .44 Mag Ammo by Federal
Power. Dependability. And – let’s face it – style. If you’ve chosen the king of all revolvers for everyday carry, then you’d might as well go ahead and load it with the best ammo for defense. We’re talking about Federal HST 44 Magnum!
This round’s bullet is the same style of jacketed hollow point that Federal loads in their Tactical HST law enforcement ammunition. It’s extremely tough, and passes through common urban barriers without shedding a significant amount of its weight in the process. Its nose cavity is engineered to avoid filling up with debris that could have prevented terminal expansion, too.
You couldn’t argue that this round’s 230 grain bullet is weak. Its subsonic muzzle velocity (out of a revolver’s 4” barrel) translates to over 550 ft lbs striking energy anywhere within a radius of 25 yards. That’s comparably weaker than a 44 Mag hunting cartridge, but it pays off in the form of lighter recoil and lower risk of over-penetration.
Federal adorns this ammo with their highest-quality components, including shiny nickel-plated brass cases. Added protection against tarnishing? Check! Reduced friction to ensure faster extraction from the cylinder and smoother cycling through a lever gun? Check!
