More Details About This Armscor 77gr OTM 5.56x45 Ammo
You’ve got a 5.56x45 rifle. You’ve got a .22 cal suppressor as well. You even bought a stack of targets. Silhouettes. Nice. BUT YOU’RE STILL MISSING ONE THING: this here special, subsonic 5.56 NATO ammunition.
It’s elementary, dear shopper. When this round’s bullet pops out of a 18” barrel, its muzzle velocity equals just 1,100 fps. That’s slower than the speed sound, and therefore unaccompanied by a sharp sonic boom. A suppressor cannot tone down a sonic boom, which is why itis most effective in conjunction with ammunition exactly like this!
Props to Armscor for not just loading this round with an ordinary FMJ. It is a Hornady open tip match: sleek, rotationally stable, and heavy at 77 grains. Just take care that it’s not extremely accurate within a 5.56 load’s conventional effective range given the lower velocities required to be subsonic. One hundred yards is more or less the limit while you’re doing your thang.
Please note: This is subsonic ammunition, and therefore will not cycle a semi-automatic that isn’t specially modified for that purpose.
