More Details About This Hornady 208gr FMJ .300 AAC Blackout Ammo
Hornady is most famous for their bullets: technologically advanced Nebraska-made pills that fly true and, if they’re designed to, expand reliably wide.
But Hornady doesn’t exclusively load premium (i.e. expensive) bullets. They also make fine full metal jackets for all kinds of target shooting. Ammo featuring such bullets is branded “Frontier.”
This Frontier ammo’s FMJs, while simple in design, are still special. They are BIG for the 300 Blackout at 208 grains, and they’re perched atop relatively weaker propellant. Why? Because that guarantees subsonic muzzle velocity (i.e. the kind of muzzle velocity you need for a suppressed 300 BLK SBR or rifle).
This subsonic ammo’s effective range may be shortened by its cooler muzzle velocity, but it’s precise within 150 to 200 yards. Hornady’s uniform 0.579 G1 BC bullets, precision-drawn brass, and precision-measured propellant won’t have it any other way.
