More Details About This Hornady 55gr FMJ .223 Ammo
The frontier is all gone: explored, mapped out, and filled up with roads and cornfields. But the frontier lives on in our hearts, and we recapture a sense of its freedom whenever we light up range targets with our AR-15s.
This 200-round field box of Hornady Frontier ammo isn’t just a little piece of freedom. It’s also military grade, because it hails from the hallowed Lake City Army Ammunition Plant of Independence, MO. Its military-grade brass cases are annealed, unpolished, and tough, and have noncorrosive Boxer primers that won’t eat away at your action and barrel.
This ammo’s bullets, however, are Hornady’s usual fine work. Each one weighs 55 grains or dang close to it, and wears a cannelure around its midsection to prevent setback under recoil. The nonmagnetic FMJ scoots out of Hornady’s 24” test barrel at a rate of 3,240 fps, which is to say that its muzzle velocity couldn’t be more typical of a 223/5.56 55 grain target round.
