Hornady’s American Gunner label 380 ACP cartridge is loaded with a 90 grain XTP that achieves a muzzle velocity of 1,000 fps in conjunction with a 4” barrel. The XTP’s jacket covers its nose cavity’s rim entirely, which helps the bullet avoid deformation that could cause a feeding jam or failure to expand after impact. Its uniformly distributed jacket and swaged lead core both enhance the XTP’s rotational stability to improve its overall accuracy. And because the XTP’s tapered jacket wears a series of symmetrical notches, it requires relatively little force to initiate terminal expansion.
