This round features a 220 grain projectile. That’s heavy – so heavy, as a matter of fact, that the round’s 1,015 fps muzzle velocity is far too slow to break the sound barrier. The open tip flat base bullet is engineered to deliver great accuracy. The opening in its tip isn’t designed for terminal expansion; it’s only there because the OTFB bullet’s core was injected through it, so it could harden in place to promote greater balance. Its narrow tip, streamlined jacket and flat base all contribute to the OTFB’s relatively flat trajectory and excellent resistance to wind drift.
