Federal didn’t forfeit one ounce of their famously dependable Minnesota-made quality when they cranked out these target perforators. They did cut down on costs by substituting cup/draw jacketed bullets with more economical plated ones, however. The plated FMJ functions just like the traditional design, albeit with one important caveat. It is not compatible with ported firearm parts, e.g. barrels or recoil compensators. If your firearm has either, then you’ll be leagues better off with Federal American Eagle instead.
Plated FMJs aren’t made with steel. You can trust the bullet’s nonferrous copper jacket and lead core not to attract a magnet. You can handload this ammo’s empty brass as well!
