7.62x39mm is the kind of ammo you want to load up on and fire endlessly. It’s addictive, and there are quite a few rifles today chambered in it. Although it is most often used for target practice and plinking, it can also be used for hunting; seasoned hunters have used it for game up to whitetail deer size. And if you’re going to hunt, using hollow point rounds is good because it means the rounds won’t over-penetrate. HP rounds offer massive energy transfer upon impact and immediately begin to expand and decelerate, creating a devastating wound track and a clean kill. You bring the proper aim and this round can do the rest.
Brown Bear has been producing ammunition as a subsidiary of the Barnaul Machine Tool Plant for years; the Barnaul plant has been operating for more than a century. Their plant is located in St. Petersburg, Russia, and they’re known for their use of advanced technology and long-term relationships with the suppliers of their components. They put their experience to use creating these bi-metal rounds; a layering process is used alternating copper and steel to create an affordable steel case. And in order to ensure ignition and prolong the ammunition’s shelf life, they use berdan primer.
These 7.62x39mm rounds are 123 grain, so they’re lightweight. Light means fast, though, and these rounds have a muzzle velocity of 2,396 feet per second. And you know they have fantastic hitting power; they have a muzzle energy of 1,568 foot-pounds. HP rounds can be used for training and plinking as well as hunting. And with 500 rounds in this box, so you can finally give your rifle the attention it deserves.
(This ammunition is steel-cased. Some ranges do not allow rounds with steel cases, so make sure you double check before trying to use this ammunition at your area range.)
