But if you’re looking for Mosin-Nagant food, then you’ve come to the right page. This 7.62x54r is made in Russia by Tula. It was imported to America by Century International Arms, which markets it as Red Army Standard. But make no mistake – this is brand new ammo, not military surplus, and its Berdan primers are just as noncorrosive as the Boxer primers you’d find in any modern American-made ammo.

This round is loaded with a 148 grain full metal jacket projectile. The solid point FMJ can’t deliver the terminal expansion you would want for hunting medium game, and its jacket is made of pure steel with a very thin copper washed exterior. The bullet will attract a magnet, which means you won’t be able to fire it at many ranges.

This round also has a steel case instead of a brass one. That’s an old Russian trick which lowers production costs. Steel isn’t as supple as brass, which means two important things: This ammo will put more fouling inside your rifle’s action, and reloading it would be way, way more trouble than it's worth.
