- Q & A
This ammo is for sharpshooting. Each round is outfitted with a 55 grain hollow point match projectile. That’s a bullet with an extremely uniform weight, highly concentric jacket, and jacketed base against which propellant gasses can more evenly exert their energy. While this bullet is a hollow point by definition, it’s not exactly designed to exacerbate the damage inflicted during penetration. All that said, this round’s ability to punch more than 300 ft lbs of energy at 500 yards – still more than the minimum recommended for self-defense – means it could be a true friend if it all came down to you and your rifle.
Frontier ammo is manufactured at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Missouri. This round gives you military-grade propellant, a non-corrosive Boxer primer (crimped, for you handloaders out there), and a heat-treated brass shell casing that is supple to seal up a chamber better during ignition. Match shooting, varmint slaying, self-defense: It’s all on the table when you’ve got these fine military-grade 5.56x45 cartridges at your service!
Note: This ammo is no good for firearms chambered exclusively for 223 Rem!
