Why is this 5.56x45 ammo by Winchester magnetic? It’s not because it has cheap bimetal jackets like we commonly see from Russia. It’s because it’s loaded with M855 projectiles, which are specifically designed for penetrating barriers!
This round’s 62 grain full metal jacket has a green painted nose to indicate that its core contains a seven-grain steel tip. Known as a “penetrator,” that tip is the reason why the M855 bullet has such an easy time punching through sheet metal.
This Boxer-primed ammo is loaded with freshly minted brass cases. The gray discoloration around their mouths is only there because the brass was heat-treated for added strength and suppleness. The bullet’s steel core won’t come into contact with your rifle’s barrel, but you would ideally have a 1:8 or 1:9 barrel twist to give the heavier projectile optimal rotational stability.
This ammo comes 200 rounds to a box, four boxes to a case.
