More Details About This Barnes 175gr OTM .308 Win Ammo
A standard 308 Win 150 grain FMJ? It attains around 0.405 G1 ballistic coefficient: ~64% velocity retention at 500 yards. A reflection of its pretty good aerodynamic efficiency, all thing considered!
But this Barnes Precision Match 175 grain open tip match bullet? Its G1 BC is 0.521: ~70% velocity retention at the same range. Leaves little doubt as to why it’s the preferable option for long-distance shooting and competition!
The OTM only bears a surface resemblance to a JHP. It does not expand, nor is it equipped to penetrate especially deeply. The bullet’s very thin and concentric jacket isn’t all that tough in the grand scheme of things, although it nicely complements the form-fitted lead core’s extraordinary balance. That and a sleek exterior profile – including a boat tail – adds up to clockwork precision ballistic performance!
This premium ammo is made in Utah by the same company that manufactured its bullets. Barnes brass is always worth handloading.
