These 5.56x45mm NATO rounds are a great option for long-range match shooting when loaded into bolt-action rifles as well as custom-built ARs. Barnes is an American company that has been making some of the best projectiles since 1932. This finished ammunition from their Precision Match line allows demanding shooters to attain top-tier performance without the trouble of handloading. As such, each cartridge is built using a reloadable brass casing that is fitted with a non-corrosive Boxer primer.
The round is topped with an 85-grain projectile of the Open Tip Match (OTM) variety. OTMs feature lead cores of consistent density, jackets of uniform concentricity, and tiny meplats (tips). In addition, Barnes builds these bullets with pronounced boat tails which shrug off drag in-flight in order to tighten groups downrange. Due to its 85-grain weight and 5.56mm NATO pressure, these rounds should not be fired from .223 chambers nor through barrels with a twist rate slower than 1:8.
