- Q & A
It was the 19th century when Emperor Alexander II ordered the building of the Barnaul Cartridge Plant along with the Barnaul Machine Tool Plant. The plant is located in St. Petersburg, the same place it has been since its founding. They take pride in having established relationships with the companies that supply the raw materials needed for the various ammunition components and keeping up with the latest technology. As one of the first ever cartridge plants in Russia, Brown Bear and Barnaul have the prestige of a long-established history and the knowledge borne of decades of experience.
.223 Remington was designed in 1864 by Remington when the US Military decided they needed to improve upon their .222 rounds. And once the military began to use the cartridge in their M16’s, it hit the public market with the advent of the AR-15. AR-15’s have been wildly popular practically since the moment they became available. They’re lightweight, magazine-fed, air-cooled rifles that have been created in a variety of sizes and with a number of options. And if you love your AR-15, you want to feed it, and that’s where these Brown Bear rounds come in.
These are 62 grain .223 rounds, making them medium-weight. As HP’s, they’re suited for a variety of things from target practice to plinking to hunting medium-size game. And with 500 rounds in the box, you can take your AR-15 out and spend a satisfying day putting holes in paper or hunting whitetail deer. Brown Bear uses a layering process to create these bi-metal steel cases and coats them in a specially created polymer to improve feeding and ejection. They have amazing speed; with a muzzle velocity of 3,050 feet per second, they reach out and touch your target like lightening. If you want to be a high-volume shooter, these affordable target rounds can get you there.
(This ammunition is steel-cased. Some ranges do not allow rounds with steel cases, so make sure you double check before trying to use this ammunition at your area range.)
