Browning calls it “X-Point Technology” – a bullet with a nose cavity that is guarded by an “⨯”-shaped obstruction. It prevents debris from clogging up the cavity and rendering it incapable of expansion (a state in which the bullet poses a higher risk of over-penetration). But because the “⨯” doesn’t block the flow of soft tissues, the interior of the cavity still receives more than adequate pressure to initiate expansion. The bullet fans out along six axes until it has (ideally) come to a rest within the threat.

No X-Point Defense cartridge is complete without its nickel-plated brass case. The extra layer of metal protects brass against corrosion until ignition, and promotes smoother feeding and extraction during the moment of truth.
