More Details About This Corbon 80gr DPX .380 ACP Ammo
This 380 ACP cartridge for self-defense has quite the secret weapon: the DPX. It is a solid copper hollow point projectile, and being nontoxic is the least of the advantages it offers.
The DPX is accurate because it is so well balanced. The monolithic projectile is completely homogenous, so its weight is as evenly distributed as can be. A lead-free bullet also greatly reduces fouling, so your barrel’s rifling will remain more effective at its important job for longer in between cleanings.
The DPX is durable because copper is so ductile. It also lacks a jacket that could have peeled away from its core – the reason why the bullet consistently retains 100% of its weight as it penetrates ballistic gelatin to a depth between 12 and 18”.
The DPX inflicts a wide wound cavity because it is strategically weakened by internal serrations. These facilitate wide expansion as the bullet potentially doubles its diameter. But it does not take the form of a mushroom as it widens outward – it erects six sharp cutting petals instead.
The 80 grain DPX is seated in a premium brass case, complete with the clean-burning powder it requires to achieve a muzzle velocity of 1,050 fps in conjunction with a 2.5” barrel. Made in South Dakota!
