In 1922, Charles Horn founded Federal Cartridge. The plant was located in Anoka, Minnesota, and had been operating for 6 years when he took over and turned it into a thriving company. His distribution plan started with selling their products at filling stations, grocery stores, and barber shops, and as time went by, they grew in leaps and bounds. By 1941, Federal had a major military contract that resulted in their being awarded an Army-Navy “E” for excellence, and their ammunition production played important roles in multiple wars. When Charles Horn retired, his son William took over and immediately increased advertising, and suddenly Federal was a household name. Today countless shooters count on Federal to feed their handguns and long guns.
If you want to feed your .22LR-chambered firearm with ammunition from a company that has supplied Olympic medal winners with their necessary rounds, this Federal .22LR is for you. These are LRN, lead round nose, and can be used for target practice, plinking, and varmint control. Many people rely on .22LR to keep the gopher, crow, and squirrel population under control at their homes or farms. The lead nose of these rounds will deform slightly on impact, but they do not expand like hollow points. Federal uses fresh brass, rimfire-primed cases for these rounds, which helps to keep them feeding and ejecting dependably.
These are 40 grain rounds which is at the heavier end of the spectrum for the average .22LR round. But they’re still quite lightweight and have fantastic speed. These rounds have a muzzle velocity of 1,240 feet per second; they’re Federal’s high velocity .22LR, so they have extra zip. You need plenty of ammunition regardless of what your plans are, and you get 500 rounds in this box. All of Federal’s ammunition is proudly manufactured in America to strict standards, and when you load your .22LR firearm with these rounds, you’ll see the Federal difference.
