- Q & A
In 1922 Charles Horn visited a failing factory. At the time the factory was just six years old but it was already at the point of closure, but after taking a closer look Horn felt he could turn things around. He refounded it as the Federal Cartridge Company and began an aggressive marketing campaign. Federal ammunition began to be sold in grocery stores, gas stations, and barber shops, all locations that would be incredibly convenient today but are no longer possible. His methods worked, and the company soon began to flourish. Today Federal has a stellar reputation in the industry and is known for their reliable ammunition.
These particular Federal rounds are meant for your .30-06. At 168 grain they’re on the lighter side for this heavy-duty rifle cartridge, but they’re still heavy enough to pack quite a punch. Being lighter helps these rounds produce a bit less felt recoil, and since .30-06 is at the upper limits of felt recoil many shooters can handle without involuntarily flinching, lighter rounds can be a good thing. These are Boat Tail Hollow Point, BTHP, rounds and begin to expand on impact. Their Boat Tails enable them to resist cross-winds and maintain a more balanced trajectory, making them a good option for longer-range shots. This ammunition is great for hunting game such as whitetail deer and elk.
There are 200 rounds in this box of Federal ammunition. That’s enough to keep you well stocked for a few hunts with plenty left over for zeroing your optics and getting some target practice in to ensure accuracy. Each of these rounds produces a muzzle velocity of X feet per second and a muzzle energy of X foot-pounds. These are brand new production, non-corrosive, brass-cased rounds with boxer primer, so you can collect your spent casings, reload them, and get even more trigger time with your favorite rifle. Federal manufactures ammunition at their longtime factory in Anoka, Minnesota. Order now and get ready to hunt.
