- Q & A
The .223 Remington round has been around for more than 50 years, and although it found its start as a result of military needs it quickly became a vastly popular round for commercial use. That overwhelming use in due in large part to the popularity of the AR – which stands for ArmaLite Rifle, not assault rifle, as many mistakenly believe – and has continued through the years. If anything the .223 Remington is used on an even greater basis today than it was before, and the round’s fan base continues to expand.
These particular .223 Remington rounds are 53 grain, putting them at the lightweight end of weight spectrum for the cartridge size. Being lighter weight enables them to travel down-range at higher speeds while also helping to keep recoil manageable. These are Hornady’s V-Max rounds, delivering rapid energy transfer on impact as well as immediately beginning to expand the moment they hit your target. That expansion is combined with deceleration, creating an effective wound cavity while preventing over-penetration, which reduces the risk to innocent bystanders. Each of these rounds has a muzzle velocity of 3465 feet per second and muzzle energy of 1413 foot-pounds. This is a great round for hunting varmints and general pest control.
There are 20 rounds in this single box of Hornady ammunition. That’s just enough to load your gun and take care of some pest control or get some target practice in beforehand. If you’d like to get extensive hunting in, buy more than one box. These are new production, brass-cased, boxer-primed rounds and can be reloaded, giving you even more value for the price. Hornady has been manufacturing ammunition since 1949 and has spent the last 60-plus years constantly coming up with new and innovative ways to improve on performance and quality. Manufacturing takes place at their factory in Grand Island, Nebraska. Order now and keep the coyotes of your property.
