More Details About Our 20 Rounds of 50gr SCHP 9mm +P Ammo by Liberty
Liberty Ammunition has created one of the highest-velocity 9mm +P cartridges for self-defense on the market. This extraordinary cartridge combines an above standard chamber pressure with an extremely lightweight 50 grain projectile to achieve a virtually unheard of 2,040 fps muzzle velocity. For reference, a standard pressure 9mm 147 grain load’s muzzle velocity is less than half that fast!
Why is the bullet so light? Because it is a small solid copper hollow point, with zero dense lead to weigh it down. But because it’s flying at nearly double the speed of sound, the 50 grain SCHP hits hard: approximately 450 ft lbs of kinetic energy at close range, which is 50% greater than the minimum typically advised for personal defense.
Under ideal circumstances the SCHP penetrates a soft medium to a depth of 12” and produces a wound cavity 3.5” in diameter. Its terminal effect is extra wide because the SCHP doesn’t merely expand under pressure – it bursts apart, sending fragments outward in a starburst pattern to inflict multiple wound channels.
Liberty’s Civil Defense 9mm +P ammunition is loaded with high-quality nickel-plated brass cases, each of which reduces friction to help a semi-auto cycle more efficiently in addition to warding off corrosion in storage. Please note that this is +P ammo, and accordingly must only be fired in handguns that are designed to handle its powerful chamber pressure.
