50 Rounds of 180gr JHP .40 S&W Ammo by Magtech

The .40 S&W was created following the 1986 FBI Miami Shootout during which serial bank robbers engaged a group of FBI agents in a firefight right in the streets of Miami. During the fight two agents were killed, one of whom was actually a sharpshooter, but whose glasses broke during the fight, before the robbers succumbed to their own injuries. The minutes the robbers survived after being repeatedly shot proved the need for a larger, more powerful round with greater wounding capabilities, but the FBI didn’t want the 10mm and its greater recoil. After years of testing and design the .40 S&W was created with its 1990 year of introduction into the industry making it quite young by ammunition standards.

These .40 S&W rounds are 180 grain, putting them at the heavy end of the scale for the cartridge size. Being heavier means they move a bit more slowly than their lighter counterparts but also means they’re capable of creating a greater impact. These are Jacketed Hollow Point, or JHP, rounds and begin to expand on impact. Expansion is controlled by their jackets, slowing it to allow for deeper penetration and a larger, more catastrophic wound cavity. Each round has a muzzle velocity of 900 feet per second and muzzle energy of 310 foot-pounds. This ammunition is specifically designed for self-defense.

There are 50 defense rounds in this single box of ammunition. It’s manufactured by Magtech, a decades-old company based in Sao Paulo, Brazil, at their vertically integrated factory.
