More Details About Our 20 Rounds of 260gr FMJ FN .454 Casull Ammo by Magtech
Do you want to take your 454 Casull big iron to the range – but don’t want to waste your valuable hunting loads on helpless paper targets? Magtech to the rescue! This ammunition is loaded with 260 grain full metal jacket flat nose projectiles, so it’s the cost-effective choice for target practice!
This round’s FMJ FN features a completely steel-free jacket and core, so it cannot attract a magnet. The FMJ FN’s cannelure helps it stay planted in the case mouth, so your powerful revolver’s recoil won’t easily jerk it out of its seating. Its flat nose profile makes the FMJ FN ideal for working over paper bullseyes and silhouettes, as it will punch the tidy hole which makes evaluating your shot groups more manageable. The bullet gets flung out of a 7.5” barrel at a muzzle velocity of 1,798 fps, and will reach 100 yards with 1,147 ft lbs of energy.
Just to be sure – no bear would be very pleased about getting whomped in the snoot by a 260gr FMJ FN. That said, the FMJ FN’s conventional lead core will not enable it to penetrate as deeply as a hard cast bullet, which is really what you want if you have to punch through a grizzly’s dense fat, bones and muscle tissue. And while a flat nose bullet does inflict greater damage to soft tissues than an round nose alternative, its inability to deliver terminal expansion does give it lesser stopping power on medium game than a soft point, polymer tip or jacketed hollow point bullet.
This ammo is made in Brazil with new and reloadable brass cases. If you’re a handloader, you’ll want 2-1/2 large pistol primers for this ammo.
