What’s 9mm NATO? To understand that, all you have to do is check out the maximum allowable chamber pressures for the three major variants of 9mm:
• 9mm - 35,000 psi
• 9mm NATO - 36,500 psi
• 9mm +P - 38,500 psi
To put it into even clearer context, here are normal 4” barrel muzzle velocities for each of those variants when they are loaded with 124 grain bullets (noting that 9mm NATO is loaded with 124 grain full metal jacket bullets by design):
• 9mm - 1,150 fps
• 9mm NATO - 1,200 fps
• 9mm +P - 1,220 fps
So there you have it! 9mm NATO is higher-pressure, flatter-shooting ammo that doesn’t qualify as +P. It recoils harder than standard pressure; softer than +P. It’s a great middle ground!
MEN ammunition is loaded in Germany with all new components: reloadable brass cases, noncorrosive Boxer primers, and steel-free nonmagnetic FMJ target bullets.
