This cartridge is outfitted with a relatively heavy 168 grain open tip match bullet. To be sure, the OTM’s nose cavity is a superficial thing which doesn’t let the bullet widen out during penetration. In other words, the OTM ain’t no hunting bullet. Its nose cavity merely indicates that the OTM’s solid lead core was poured right into place inside the jacket. That’s why the core is form-fitted, a feature which complements the OTM’s heightened jacket concentricity to create excellent in-flight rotational stability. That’s part of the reason why the OTM gets a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.402 after it exits a 24” barrel. It will stay supersonic and stable until it reaches approximately 939 yards!
