The .22 Hornet, or 5.6x35mmR, was designed in the 1920s by Townsend Whelen and G.L. Whotkyns. This cartridge first it the market in 1930 despite there not yet being any guns chambered for it. The first .22 Hornet-chambered firearm was made in 1932. It didn’t take long for this zippy little round to gain popularity as a varmint round and it was once referred to as “perfect for mid-range varmints of all stripes” by Guns magazine. Much like the .22LR the .22 Hornet produces almost no felt recoil and very little report. If you use yours for dropping varmints and vermin, you’re probably looking for some reliable rounds to get the job done.
These .22 Hornet rounds are manufactured by Remington. They weigh in at 45 grain which is considered medium-weight for the cartridge size. Of course, 45 grain is light overall and thanks to its lighter size these rounds travel at high speeds and keep felt recoil to a minimum. These are JHP, Jacketed Hollow Point, rounds and begin to expand on impact. Their jackets control expansion, allowing for deeper penetration and the creation of a deadly wound cavity. This ammunition is great for hunting varmints such as rabbits and coyotes.
When you order this box of ammunition from Remington you get 50 rounds. This box is a nice size for toting along in your pack when you’re headed out to do some hunting. Of course, 50 rounds will only give you a taste of what these rounds can do so you might want to order more than one box so you don’t run out at an inopportune moment. Each of these rounds travels at a muzzle velocity of 2690 feet per second and muzzle energy of 723 foot-pounds. Remington manufactures ammunition at their factory in Lonoke, Arkansas, according to exacting standards. Order now to get some hunting done with your .22 Hornet.
