- Q & A
223 ammo from a guy who took firearm manufacturing into his own hands… then dialed it up a bit!
In 1816 a man by the name of Eliphalet Remington decided to design and build his own rifle. Once he’d drawn up plans and used his father’s forge to make the new gun he entered a shooting competition with it, hoping to find out just what it could do. He won second place in that long-ago contest, and onlookers were so impressed they began placing orders right there on the spot. Eliphalet could have turned them down, sticking to just his own rifle, but he opted to enter the firearms industry, and the Remington Arms Company was born.
These particular Remington rounds are meant for your AR that’s chambered in .223 Remington. At 45 grain these are quite lightweight, which means they’re capable of flying down-range at high speeds; being lighter also helps keep felt recoil under control and reduces muzzle rise. These are Jacketed Hollow Point, or JHP, rounds, and deliver rapid energy transfer and expansion on impact. Their jackets control expansion, allowing the bullet to penetrate more deeply and create a larger, more devastating wound cavity. These rounds have a muzzle velocity of 3550 feet per second and muzzle energy of 1259 foot-pounds. This ammunition is great for shooting varmints such as coyotes and getting some good target practice in.
When you order this single box of ammunition from Remington you get 200 rounds. That’s enough to keep your gun loaded and ready for a few varmint hunts with enough left over for some fairly extensive target practice, but if you want to dedicated serious time to practice, you might want more than one box. These are new production, brass-cased rounds with boxer primer and can be reloaded. Remington has half a dozen factories throughout the South and on the east coast, each of which has a specific job. Ammunition is manufactured at their facility in Lonoke, Arkansas. Place your order now and keep your gun well-fed and ready to go.
