- Q & A
The .380 ACP was created in 1908 by renowned designer John Browning. It’s known by other names as well including .380 Auto, 9mm Browning, 9mm Corto, 9mm Kurz, and 9mm Short, among others. The .380 ACP was first made for blowback pistols, which didn’t have a barrel locking mechanism. It doesn’t need one; the weight of the slide and the recoil spring is enough of a buffer for what little recoil the caliber produces. And if you think the .380 ACP is only for pocket pistols, think again; there are also .submachine guns chambered in .380 ACP, including the Ingram MAC-11 and the vz. 83. It’s most commonly used as a concealed carry weapon, and if that’s why you have one, you need to spend some time at the range.
These are 95 grain rounds; they’re lightweight and also within the standard weight range for the .380 ACP. At this weight your minimal recoil is maintained and the round is also able to move down-range at higher speeds. This is Metal Case ammunition which is Remington’s version of Full Metal Jacket, so it doesn’t expand on impact but simply strikes the target, penetrates, and continues to travel. As with any range time you need to be sure of your target and what is beyond it. Each round zips down-range at a muzzle velocity of 955 feet per second and impacts targets with a muzzle energy of 190 foot-pounds. This ammunition is designed for target practice, shooting drills, and plinking.
When you place your order for this ammunition you get a whopping 1000 target rounds. With that many rounds you can spend some serious time at the range, and you’ll also have enough ammunition to seriously improve your marksmanship. The .380 performs at its best at close range, so you might be tempted to do all your training up-close-and-personal. However, you can’t guarantee where your assailant is going to be, so it’s a good idea to train at a variety of distances and get to know what your gun is capable of, including what the drift and drop is at longer distances so you can adjust your aim accordingly. Remington manufactures ammunition at their plant in Lonoke, Arkansas. Order today and hit the range with your .380 ACP.
