Remington was founded in 1816 by Eliphalet Remington, and today they are the oldest company in the entire U.S. still making their original product. In addition, they’re the oldest continuously running manufacture in North America. And if that’s not enough to be hugely impressed, they’re also the only company in the U.S. producing both ammunition and firearms domestically. Bottom line? Remington has a rich heritage and long history of being exceptional, a reputation upheld by generations of shooters.
The .45 ACP also has a long history. It was created in 1904 by John Browning, and it was General John T. Thompson who insisted on its strength, saying he wanted a real “man stopper.” Thompson was personally aware of the failings of the weaker .45 Colt that preceded .45 ACP, and with the creation of this cartridge, he was duly impressed. Once they had the cartridge they wanted, they need an entirely new gun to go with it, and 6 firearms manufacturers entered bids. In the end, it was Colt that won, and the end result of their efforts became the Model 1911. Today, the 1911 has a dedicated following, and for good reason; it’s a dynamic handgun, and, as Thompson wanted, a “man stopper.”
Of course you want a heavy round for your heavy-duty gun, and these 230 grain rounds are just that. Heavy enough to do some damage, these rounds have a muzzle velocity of 835 feet per second and a muzzle energy of 356 foot-pounds. They’re MC rounds, which is the Remington name for what is essentially a FMJ round. That makes them ideal for target practice, tactical training, or just putting some huge holes in a row of pop cans. This is a 100-round box of ammunition, which is the perfect size for a visit to the range or your favorite outdoor spot. It is true that you might fire off every round in this box in one fast session, though, so you might want to consider ordering at least two.
