- Q & A
The M1903 Springfield is a bolt-action service rifle that was designed for the U.S. military in, yes, 1903. It stayed in use until 1937, when it was replaced by the M1 Garand, but because there weren’t enough Garand’s for service members it ended up seeing continued use through World War II as well. In fact, the M1903 saw use through the Korean War and Vietnam. Its primary purpose in the military was as a sniper rifle, and today it’s popular on the civilian market both as a collector’s piece and for hobby shooting. And, in a way, it does still see some military use because the Marines use it in their shooting matches. It’s a piece of firearms history, and it’s also a large part of the reason we have the .30-06 cartridge. If you own a rifle chambered in .30-06, thank the M1903.
At 168 grain these are at the high end of the lightweight range for the cartridge. Because they’re fairly light they’re capable of reaching higher speeds, but because they’re a bit heavier they’re also capable of more substantial impact. 165 grain rounds loaded into 8-pound rifles generate about 20.1 foot-pounds of recoil energy, which is substantial kick and also the result of enough power to easily take down a deer; these 168 grain rounds are more than strong enough to handle your hunting needs. These are HPBT rounds and expand on impact, creating a catastrophic wound channel, and because they have Boat Tails they’re good for long-range shots because they’re better able to resist cross-winds and maintain a more even trajectory. This ammunition is designed for hunting.
Each of these .30-06 rounds moves towards your target with fantastic speed with a muzzle velocity of 2786 feet per second and delivers rapid energy transfer, impacting your target with a muzzle energy of 2896 foot-pounds. You get 20 rounds in this single box of ammunition, which is the perfect size for tucking into your vest when head out hunting. Sellier and Bellot manufactures these hunting rounds at their plant in Vlasim, Czech Republic. These are reloadable new-production, non-corrosive, brass-cased rounds with boxer primer. If you bring the shot placement, Sellier and Bellot will bring the power. Order now and take your .30-06 hunting.
